    November 15, 2008

Click the link for the official lineup of role-playing games scheduled for our November GRPA event on Monday, Nov. 24th. Have a look below, and if you’d like to join us for any of these sessions, please select a game in which you’d like to participate and either call or write us back with your name and selection. All games are free and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, and you’ll be responded to immediately with your status in the game.

    What’s GRPA? Find out here!

    GRPA – Monday, November 24th 6-11pm

    Game #1 – Dead Man’s Plea
    Pathfinder (D&D 3.75)
    3-5 Players
    GM – Arnold Stellema

The body in the stream was badly decomposed, but the scroll case was sealed and dry inside. The only contents: a desperate plea for help and a map to a remote mountain temple. With little information and more than a few doubts, a team was quickly assembled to mount a rescue. Skirting the various orc tribes that vie for control of these mountains, you climb higher and higher, until finally the temple is in sight. But how long has it been? Will this be a mission of salvation… or salvage?

Pathfinder is a new version of the D&D 3.5 ruleset done under the OGL. For those familiar with 3.5, this is a great chance to try out the newest version of that ruleset. Much of what you know and love remains, many of the things you struggled with have been fixed. I’ll talk a little about what has changed and why. This will be an old-school, site-based adventure with battle mat and minis. It will be fast-paced, action-oriented, and will have pregenerated characters of 4th-6th level.

Game #2 – Prague Awash in Blood and Fire
    Mage: Dark Ages/Ars Magica
    3 Players
    GM – Doug Hagler

The story will take place in four Acts. Act One: Terror From the Ghetto – the players will take the part of “Grogs”, servants who are loyal to the Mages of the Hermetic Order, as they come face to face with a creature seemingly bent on tearing a bloody swathe through Medieval Prague; Act Two: Reprisals – the players will take the part of “Companions”, more accomplished allies of the Hermetic Mages, sent to find out more about the creature and to face it if they dare; Act Three: Perdo Terram – the players will take the part of the Hermetic Mages themselves in a high-stakes magical battle to save all of Prague; Act Four: Repercussions – the players return to take the part of the Grogs who began this story as they deal with what follows in the wake of great events. The game will be fast-paced, featuring a slimmed-down rules set and pre-generated characters. This game is recommended for experienced role-players because there will be minimal time spent explaining the rules. Each Act will drop you directly into the ongoing story, and your actions in earlier Acts will affect what comes next.

    Game #3 – Burnt Offerings
    Shadowrun 4th Ed.
    3-6 Players
    GM – Walter Wrigglesworth

“A city in turmoil. A cabal of pwer-hungry sorcerers. A rogue demon. Once only the fanciful stories of books and gamers, these terrors have finally come to life, right here in downtown Seattle. We, the Aztechnology Corporation, are currently hiring a crew of motivated individuals”…blah, blah blah. You’ve heard it all before, chummer. Some idiot wageslave has dropped it all in the toilet and its your job to get it out. This time, the pay is great and the job sucks. Just another day in the life, right? Here’s the datafeed, omae: Some poor fragger on a ‘run set a demon loose in the city, and now all hell’s broken loose. The Azzies are looking for deniable assets (that’s you, chummer!) who can stop its plans, maybe even kill it, before it brings the whole nuthouse that is Seattle down, with everybody still inside. Two teams have already died trying, so while the cash is large, the job may get you killed. But if you’re feeling lucky, or skilled, or you got a deathwish, the Azzies are paying top dollar for you to learn what you can about it, then cowboy up and wipe this thing.

Shadowrun is a game where magic and technology collide in a not-so-distant future. Expect lots of action, lots of RPing, and some possible player death. No experience with role-playing or Shadowrun is necessary.

Game #4 – Edge of Darkness
    Dark Heresy (40K RPG)
    3-6 Players
    GM – Ian Tillotson

Dark Heresy is the role-playing game set in the dark future-world of Warhammer 40,000, where you play undercover operatives working for your mysterious masters, the Inquisitors of the Imperium of mankind, ruled by the God-Emperor, your saviour and protector. Your master, Illius Kaesar, has assigned you to investigate a series of murders and see if there are any connections to a troubling spree of high-level kidnappings. This is not usually in your line of work, but one of the bodies has parts missing and others added to it, attracting the attention of your masters and those of the Adeptus Mechanicus, your allies and friends (if you use the term loosely) who oversee biological “modification”. The God-Emperor watches you, do not fail him.
