    Designer Meet-n-Greets

    December 13, 2010

The Bay Area is absolutely rife with amazing game design talent, and we feel very fortunate to be right in the center of it all. We often get to see the creators of some of our favorite games right here in the store, and it’s great for them to see our thriving community having a blast with the products of their brilliant work. Right before the holiday, we’ll be getting visits from a number of local game designers who will set up tables in the store and show you what they’re best at. You can give something new a try, learn a bit about the design process, or even get a game signed. Check out our featured designer visits below and synch up your shopping days with our December Designer Days!

    Qwirkle

Qwirkle/Skippity Designer Demo with Susan McKinley-Ross
    Saturday, December 18th 1-3pm

We’re always very excited to get a visit from Susan during the holidays, and we couldn’t believe in a designer’s ability more than hers. Susan and her husband Chris make up Idea Duck, creators of some of the best games we carry. She’ll be at the store on the Saturday before Christmas to feature the ever-popular Qwirkle – the best-selling board game in the history of the store – as well as Qwirkle Cubes, Fish Stix, and her new smash hit, Skippity. As noted in our Holiday Gift Guide, we think Skippity is going to be huge. Come check it out and see what we mean!

    Blue Orange Games

Blue Orange Designer Demo with the Blue Orange Staff
    Sunday, December 19th 12-3pm

The fine folks over at Blue Orange consistently produce wonderful, super-fun games for kids and adults, and this year is no exception. In addition to the wildly-popular Yamslam and Pengoloo games, we’ll be featuring demos of Spot It!, Spell-it, Sumoku, and Crazy Cheese on the Sunday just before Christmas. They’ll also be bringing playable copies of their entire line, including Gobblet, Ringgz, Froggie Boogie, Quack Quack, Double Shutter, and Fundomino – and maybe even some giant-sized versions, as well! Blue Orange has been one of our favorite companies for years, and we always enjoy spending time with them, whether it’s playing games or playtesting them. We think you will, too.
