    September GRPA

    September 19, 2011

With the debut of Open RPG on every Monday this month, we have seen an upswing in the attendance at our roleplaying events at Gamescape and expect the same at our GRPA event next week. Please come out and continue to support our local gamemasters as they endeavor to supply you with the best systems, stories and action that can be found in roleplaying. It is to the GMs that we owe our thanks for continuing their work in providing the games – and there is no better way to show your appreciation than filling their tables with players eager for adventure and the clatter of dice!

Click the link for the official lineup of role-playing games scheduled for it on Monday, September 26th. Have a look below, and if you’d like to join us for any of these sessions, please select a game in which you’d like to participate and either call or write us back with your name and selection. All games are free and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, and you’ll be responded to immediately with your status in the game.

    What’s GRPA? Find out here!

    GRPA – Monday, September 26th 6-11pm

Game #1 – Behind the Veil of Normality
    World of Darkness
    4 Players
    GM – Michael O’Brien

On a cool, pleasantly grey morning in Ohio, a farmer begins his daily routine of feeding his animals and tending to his crops. Before climbing into his combine harvester, he pauses to draw in a deep breath of the crisp July air, deliciously plump with humidity but not overbearingly so. Turning the key to his trusted machine, with which he’s made his living, he prepares for a long, rewarding day of hard work. As the contraption roars to life, an unfamiliar sound bombards his ears. Believing some piece of debris must have found its way into the cycling blades, he switches his harvester off and climbs out to inspect – and hopefully fish out – the foreign object. As he peers through the delicately arranged metal, his breath freezes in his chest. There, amongst the complex machinery, is a half-mulched human body…

In World of Darkness, players will adopt the personae of various normal people who one day find that they world they live in is merely a façade, a cover pulled over the eyes of the everyday populous to hide the fact that down every dark alley, under every bed, there are nightmarish creatures who sit higher on the food chain than we do. World of Darkness uses a d10 system that’s complex enough to cover all situations any player might find himself in, yet simple enough that anyone can pick up and play.

    Game #2 – Dallas 1963
    3-4 Players
    GM – Dale Horstman

The President is coming, although he really shouldn’t.

The city is on edge, and all the players are busy playing – John Birch patriots and pro-Castro lunatics, Teamsters, mobsters and assorted other entrepreneurs in the burgeoning fields of sex, death, and race war. A lot of very serious people are doing a lot of very serious things. A smart guy can really get ahead in times like these, looking for the angles, making connections. And you know what? Guys like that have more important things to do than worry about the President speaking at a Dallas Trade Mart luncheon.

Fiasco is an intense, GM-less story- and character-driven roleplaying game. It is almost as much improv theater as it is an RPG. The themes explored in the game can often be adult-oriented, so only over-18s for sign-ups, please.

Game #3 – Before the Dawn – Part 1: The Bloodcove Disguise
    Pathfinder Society
    4-6 Players
    GM – Joshua Archer

You are sent to Aspis Consortium-infested Bloodcove to gather supplies for a nearly doomed Pathfinder mission nearby. Disguised as ordinary merchants, you have little time to gather what you need and get out before the Consortium discovers and destroys you.

This product is a Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st to 3rd level characters (Tiers: 1–3). Players may build characters according to the Pathfinder Society Play rules. I will have some ready-built characters for those who do not have their own. I will also assist those wishing to create PFS characters via email or on the forum. Find out more about Pathfinder Society here.
