Coming up this weekend, we’ll be once again hosting demos and games of ZombieSmith’s Songs of Our Ancestors. Following up on the interest generated by last month’s events, we’re giving you a double-dose of Quar-releated fun in the middle of October. This Saturday features a demo of SoA 12-4pm at the store for folks who would like to see the rules in action. We’ll also be hosting a casual play event for Songs of Our Ancestors on Sunday, October 14th 11am-2pm. If you haven’t seen these guys at KublaCon or Pacificon in recent years, then you’re definitely missing out. There always seems to be a crowd around their demo tables no matter what time of day or night. But we’re giving you another chance!
Songs of Our Ancestors is a great set of skirmish rules taking place in a World War I-esque, dystopian fantasy setting. The Quar are a race of cartoonish, round-bodied, long-nosed creatures that have been at total war for more than a hundred years. Their technology is early-20th century and their fashion is trench-chic. The miniatures, which are available in both 28mm and 15mm, are full of character and crisp of detail, lending themselves to beautiful paint jobs very well. Game play is fast and intuitive with lots of choices for a good tactical feel.
We’ll have starters and other unit boosters for all of the featured armies available for sale on the day of the demo. ZS is offering the rules for Songs of Our Ancestors for free on their website, so you can read up before dropping by this weekend for the demo and game day.
